On the plain

Well, it's near the edge of Salisbury Plain!

More this week on the Bison, as promised.

One of the boys*

*"One of the boys" is how the farmer referred to this male.  He's one of the subordinate bulls.

Additionally,

Wapiti (Elk)

... and not forgetting the Rhea

Snooty?

I spent half a day on the Somerset Levels at RSPB Greylake.  Here's what I got.

Mute Swan

Long-tailed Tit

In the car park ...

At the waterhole

The owners of the farm were most helpful in the access they granted me and they advised me of some possible vantage points and the likely behaviour of the Bison.

These are American Plains Bison and probably better known to many as the Buffalo that featured in so many of the old Hollywood films.

The hot, dry weather had meant that this particular breeding herd had taken to standing in a lake whilst they chewed the cud.  I've labelled the sexes on their first appearance.  After that it's up to you!

I don't think the neighbour was too pleased at the way the fish were being disturbed.

Grey Heron on the far bank

The next part of my project is photographing one of the herds on pasture.
