Hawk Conservancy (misc)

I visited the Hawk Conservancy Trust three times in December — I’m a Member.  My special interest was that it’s the only time off the year that the Snowy Owl can be flown.  The temperature is too high for her at any other time and even a mild day in the winter can ground her.

Programmes were a little restricted last month by a DEFRA Order.  There was no ‘wild bird feed’ and no birds could be handled by members of the public.

However, the principal flying displays went ahead with a wide range of species.

I've pooled the images from my visits and selected some.  They're split into ‘Snowy Owl’ and ‘Others’.  This week it’s the ‘Others’.  Next week will be a Snowy Owl special.

Stourhead and The Levels

The images this week were taken over a series of days at the Stourhead Estate, Wiltshire, and at Greylake and Shapwick Heath, Somerset.  All the Robin images were taken using flash, as was the Chaffinch.
