A touch of Grey; a lot of Red

I start on the 'mainland'  –  the Arne peninsula to be precise  –  at the RSPB reserve there.

Grey Squirrel

I think this is a member of the Chicory family

Robin

Missing the point

Grasping the point

Black-headed Gull (at the beach)

Another day and a short ferry trip from Sandbanks to Brownsea Island ...

Peafowl

Speckled Wood Butterfly

... and what I'd really gone there for ...

Red Squirrel

... and a second, less acrobatic one:

Slimbridge (Pt II)

This week I continue from last week's blog.  All the images were taken in the collections, but spot the wild bird that had sneaked in!

Caribbean Flamingo

Ruff

Goldeneye

Jackdaw (Yes, this is the wild one)

Bewick's Swan

Trumpeter Swan

Carolina Wood Duck

Hooded Merganser

Chiloe Wigeon

Patagonian Crested Duck

Greater Flamingo

Bar-headed Goose

Lesser White-fronted Goose

Emperor Goose

These last few images of geese were all taken near Puddleduck Corner.  I went through the little wooden gate to where there is a bench.  As I was sitting on the bench more birds wandered over.  They were sitting or standing at my feet like children sitting round for a story.  I ended up half lying on the seat (to improve my point-of-view) and taking photographs.  You've seen for yourself just how laid back my subjects were.

Red-breasted Goose

Hawaiian Goose (Nene)

Lesser Magellan Goose  ♂
