This week I am posting the images from my Photographic Day visit to the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey. I say, "the images", but these are only some. I took over 900 and have kept a little fewer than 10%. That's not as drastic as it reads. Some of the images were taken in short continuous bursts and each burst produced perhaps the one image that I have kept.
Red Squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris)
What do you mean, 'No touching'? |

You want a 'classic pose'? |
... I'm thinking about it |
... What'll you pay? |
... OK, then |
Red Fox (Vulpes vulpes)
He was still a bit shy in the first four images:
What's going on today? |
Am I tempted? |
What's that? |
Naturally wary |
... but then he came out and started to interact with us.
A bit of loping, perhaps ... |
... and a spot of looking fierce? |
Lovely teeth |
Have you got your shots? |
Harvest Mouse (Micromys minutus)
These are all images of the same, female Harvest Mouse on her modelling début. This species is really tiny and the images were taken with a macro lens. The end of the lens-hood was often <15cm away from the subject.
