Slimbridge (Part 2)

These are the concluding images from my visit to WWT Slimbridge in Gloucestershire.

Apart from the ubiquitous pigeons that crept in to pose, these birds are all part of the collections at the reserve.  I.e. they are not wild.

Pochard

Chiloe Wigeon

Muscovy Duck

Yellow-billed Pintail

Flamingo

Pigeon!

South African Shelduck

White-faced Whistling Duck

The Haiwiian Goose (Nene) is the world's rarest goose and owes its continued existence only to the conservation efforts of (primarily) the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust's founder, the late Sir Peter Scott.

Nene

I think this one fancies itself as a cheer-leader for the 50th State!

Emperor Goose

Reinforcements

Bar-headed Goose

Cape Barren Goose

The Cape Barren Goose is the 'pit-bull' of the goose world.  Fiercely territorial and extremely aggressive, they will attack anything that comes near.  Their enclosure is double-fenced.

Demoiselle Crane

As a postscript I'm including four images from a more recent trip to Stourhead.

Great Tit

Nuthatch

Robin
