All these images are from La Forêt des Singes, at Rocamadour in Lot, southwest France. The reserve is on the plateau above the town and the gorge.
The residents are Barbary Macaques like the ones on the Rock at Gibraltar. They're sometimes called 'Barbary Apes', but they are not apes. They're tail-less monkeys. (Two of the images near the end of this blog perhaps illustrate this point.)

#MyNewPhone |
Apple gets everywhere! (I hope that my title looks 'right'. I haven't a clue really about Twitter!)
Something looks interesting |
Fiddly |
Heading back |
As you can see, this one's been in the shower.
There is a waterfall in the grounds and the youngsters in particular enjoy chasing each other through the cascading water.
Trouble comin' |
On a mission? |
Perhaps not. The old man's watching |
Seen it all |
Concentration |
How long till lunch? |
Part of the 5-a-day |
New responsibility |
Just checking |
Butter wouldn't melt |
What about a close-up? |
And you? |
No. Back off a bit. |
That's better |
Just right |
I'm fed up now ... |
... and I've a new interest |
Mm? |
Tastes OK |
Any more? |
It's a girl and she's meeting her older sister |
Giz a smile |
That's my new little sister |
The baby is a female. I checked this with a member of staff, who was keeping an eye on mother and child. You can see that the 'adolescent' female has been running through the cascade.
I think Mum needs a baby-brush to get that centre parting straight.
At the top of the waterfall-rocks ... |
... watching me ... |
... and showing just how little they care! |
Tucking in |
"Tastes like Golden Delicious, I believe" |
What's this? |
It looks interesting |
Perhaps not |
Big ideas |
I just love the baby-restraint method.
Sucking an apple |
(the vestigial tale) |
You can see clearly the vestigial tail in these two images.
There's just been a fresh delivery of fruit |
Stuff it in |
Here's one |
Suit yourself |
And so the day goes on.
Any resemblances to people you know might just be a coincidence.
