Martin Mere: On the wild side

My annual visit to WWT Martin Mere earlier this month has produced these images.  All were taken 'on the wild side' and are of wild birds.

Calm

Here are some more images of the young Mute Swan family at Stourhead, Wiltshire.  (First images published here on 14th June 2013)

This next group of images was taken at Greylake, Somerset, a few hours before the St Jude's Day storm blew in.  The wind strength was already increasing.

Next, a lesson in camouflage.  Until some of the flock spilled off the edge onto the water, these Eurasian Teal were 'invisible'.  Once you knew they were there, the little specks of green (feathers) suddenly became meaningful.
