The Grosvenor Arms

As you can see, the cloud-base was descending rapidly onto this former-Saxon hill-town.

RSPB Greylake

The entire reserve was completely under water (15 January 2014).  The car park alone was 'dry' and a tide-mark there showed that the level had been higher prior to my visit.  This photograph was taken from the edge of the water at a field-gate at an entrance from the car park.  The principal entrance is via a footbridge out of shot to the left.  The bridge, too, was under water.

Ham Wall, Somerset:

Mute Swan

Walton Hill, Somerset:

Walton Hill is a high point on the eastern end of the Polden Hills, near to Street.  The Poldens form a long, low ridge running from near Street to Puriton near Bridgwater.  The ridge is the route of the A39 (mostly) and was once the route of a Roman road.

Like the Greylake images above, the images below were captured 5 weeks ago.  There is now a national awareness of the flooding on The Levels, but 'problematic flooding' (including A-road closures) started before Christmas.
