Passing time

I spent a rather grey morning  at one of the viewing screens at RSPB Ham Wall, Somerset.  I had no particular species in mind and was there simply to see what might come along.

First up was this Cormorant.

Mallard

The greyness was enlightened by the appearance of a Kingfisher that moved from side to side of the water for several minutes.  It was a little too far away for a decent image, but it definitely brightened things up.

The morning was rounded off by this Shoveler.

By now I was beginning to lose the use of my legs.  I called it a morning and drove over to the Avalon Marshes Centre for a bite to eat at Eco-Friendly Bites.

At the beginning of the month I changed one of my camera-bodies for a new model*.  As part of my familiarisation programme, I had a play with some of its settings and took the following in the garden.

Goldfinch

House Sparrow
