Test Flights

I've changed my camera body and all the images in this posting were taken as I familiarised myself with it.  The differences in operation are negligable, but I need to be able to use the camera intuitively.  There are so many things you can adjust without lowering the camera and it was the subtle differences here that I wanted to address.  I call it, "Photography by Braille".  Interestingly, Canon has put a little dimple in the head of the ISO-button so that your finger can be sure it's on the right button as you make adjustments through the viewfinder.  I shall be interested to see if I can still feel it in the winter!

Stourhead:

The Pantheon

Great Tit

The Temple of Apollo
This building is licensed for civil marriages, but I have to wonder how many of the invitations suggest 'stout shoes or boots'.  Access is up a very steep path that has been surfaced with stone sets to minimise erosion.  It has a definite camber.  The area around the temple is not metalled.  There is another, much longer route which is completely unpaved.

No jokes about duck-boards, please.

In my garden:

I took these through the glass whilst having a cup of coffee.

Goldfinch

I was struck by the way that it looked as if there was a mirror behind the feeder.

House Sparrow

Shapwick Heath:

I got up early on this morning and was in the hide not too long after sunrise.  (We've reached a time of the year when 'early' isn't too crazy an hour.)

Greylake:

This was after an early lunch at Eco-Friendly Bites on the same day.

Mute Swan. 'In the soup'

This adult Little Grebe was resting peacefully on the water at what is usually a lazy time of the day ...

... when a juvenile appeared.  Both are seemingly nonchalant and I guessed that the adult was hoping the peace would be maintained.

Not to be!  Junior had other ideas.

Wow!  I'm going backwards!

I've seen the grown-ups doing this

Phew
